     If you closed your eyes during this set by SSM it was like listening to a more keyboard heavy Hentchmen. The crowd was somewhat reserved at first but it seemed like SSM had won over some new converts by the end with their fuzzed-out garage-tech grooves. It'd be interesting to see what'd happen if these guys played some of the rooms in Brooklyn. Watch & Listen: SSM - video: as a side note: Come back to us Hentchmen - One more album please!  8p @ Glasslands - Heavy Trash w/ Puddin' Tang I caught Jon Spencer's Heavy Trash a while back and they put on an entertaining Rock N' Roll show, plus Glasslands is an excellent room for music... Labels: Heavy Trash 1 commentI used to dig John Spencer back when he was with the Blues Explosion. I imagine the new project is as interesting/good...hafta check out the new shit.

      I'd only heard a few online recordings of Ace Fu's J.A.C.K. which rocked pretty hard and were impressive, but live... this band RAWKs. J.A.C.K. attacks with some mean lead shredding & powerhouse vocals backed by an energetic rhythm section. Definitely a band to check for in '08.      Riding High on the growing positive buzz & momentum surrounding the band, Brooklyn's Bear Hands closed out the night with a sweaty set of pulsating hard rock that left the packed crowd screaming for an encore. Bear Hands has been excellent every time I've seen them and are Highly Recommended for fans of danceable post-punk.
