We finally got some good weather this year for Brooklyn's annual West Indian Day Parade. This yearly blowout is always fun rain or shine - I grew up in the States but my roots are in Kingston, Jamaica so I never miss this opportunity for friendly faces, tasty food, and some of the best music on Earth. Brooklyn’s island community went all out with the floats this year but I was little shock at how many were sponsored by either corporations (American Airlines even had a float!) or politicians. It seems that the political big-heads are finally starting to recognize the potential political clout of the NYC West Indian community. I even spotted future NY Gov Elliot Spitzer working the crowd.
