the Buffalo Killers set things off nicely at the Mercury Lounge on Friday night with a short but powerful set of tunes from their recently released self titled debut LP. Their addictive mixture of southern rock & psych-bluesy elements with skilled soloing and mellow soul vocals from brothers Zack & Andrew Gabbard combine to give the songs a lived-in, classic feel without coming off as forced retro. the Buffalo Killers are definitely an excellent band to discover for fans of groups like the Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Black Crowes or quality Rock in general.
