True story: I got completely bombed at a Von Bondies show about 5 years ago and for the good of everyone my friends stuffed me in a cab home but without my bag that had my camera in it, my phone, and a money order for my rent (!). When I went back to club to get it, the bag was gone – which especially sucked because I was too broke to replace the camera so for a while I couldn’t shoot anything. One day about six months later I get a call saying “Hey this is the Von Bondies, we found your number in this bag and it looks like there's some important stuff in it - should we mail it to you?”. It turns out the band had accidentally grabbed my bag thinking it was one of theirs and took it with them as they travelled all over. It was great – they mailed it back, nothing was missing, and I was able to get the dough back and the camera. Good Peeps - those Von Bondies.
So when they kinda disappeared for a while after their last tour – I kept thinking "that sucks, those guys are cool – I hope they didn’t break up or anything". Well, turns out they were just in the lab working on new material & recharging and at their one-off show at the Mercury Lounge it showed. The band was on fire burning through an intense set of pure Detroit rock fury with all the passion & intensity you'd expect. The Von Bondies are always excellent live & have some shows coming up with Razorlight so definitely catch that when they come your way.
