10.16 CMJ Week Day 2 Preview (photos)
Todd P. Party @ Silent Barn
the Death Set
The Death Set is pretty much guaranteed to steal the show with their mega-amped electro-punk – every time I’ve seen them the crowd just completely spazzes out along with the band. The tiny basement was so hot and sweaty that I had to keep cleaning the steam and beer off my camera. Amazing Fun.
Team Robespierre
Before the inevitable destruction of the stage itself, Team Robespierre rolled to another victory with their shout along party-punk. The crowd was especially fired up for their set, screaming, dancing and crowd surfing along.
Juiceboxxx
Juiceboxx set the bar pretty high for the evening at Todd P's Silent Barn jam with an explosive set of shout-along Electro-Hop that sent the crowd into a frenzy. It must have been way over 100 degrees in the room - in October!
Deli Magazine @ the Delancey
the Head Set
NYC’s Head Set was one of the first bands I posted about and FWYB and they’re still rolling, sounding better than ever. The house was packed with curios festival goers and they didn't disappoint. Still a band to watch.
Voxtrot
I like to start off these multi-day, mutli-venue festivals with a sure thing so I don't lose momentum, and a free show by Voxtrot in an intimate venue like Fontana’s is about as close to a sure thing as you can get. This band’s been hyped a lot over the past couple of years but the fact remains, they're excellent performers with unusually strong songwriting. Hopefully even bigger things are ahead for these guys.
