Fiddle While You Burn

I keep running into these guys (2nd CMJ in a row). I didn't know the Oxford Collapse were playing until I got to Pianos but I was glad to hear they were. I’m always down to support my fellow Brooklynites especially when they've got such a great sound. Oxford Collapse mixes 80's & 90's indie influences with dynamic vocal harmonies for catchy results. Judging by the packed room of industry types & bloggers at Pianos it seems like people are starting to catch on.

I bumped into my friends Jose & Jack earlier in the evening so admittedly; I was kinda out of it by this point. But these guys are always good (and Mike was tearing it up on stage in shorts!).

It was cool to hear these guys were opening for the Constantines not just because its a great line-up - but every time I see the Oxford Collapse the rooms are only half-full. People are definitely sleeping because they’re one of the best bands in town. It was standing room only tonight – Southpaw was packed, and the guys definitely stepped up and hit a home run. By the end the crowd was cheering for more. These guys get better every time.

I love watching shows at Rothko but it’s always pitch black and hard to get good shots unless you're practically on the stage or using a flare gun for a flash. Anyway, I hit this CMJ Day showcase and the Oxford Collapse was definitely the best band of the day. The all-ages crowd was diggin' the catchy songs, & tight, energetic performance.
