I’ve heard people complain that the sound at the Siren Festival isn’t so good, but you wouldn’t know that watching Priestess. The band was LOUD as hell sending stunned hipsters and Coney Island weekenders plugging their ears and scrambling for cover. For those brave enough to stay, the set was awesome since the band held nothing back and played a furious set of Metal if they were the headliners of the festival even throwing in a Tommy Aldrige-esque drum solo. According to the bands’ their website they’ve got 7 shows coming up with legendary costume rockers GWAR and one at South Street Seaport (I’m not sure if this is a free show or not):

Priestess dates wtith GWAR:

8/15/2006 TULSA, OK @ Cain's Ballroom w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

8/16/2006 MEMPHIS, TN @ New Daisy Theatre w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

8/17/2006 CINCINNATI, OH @ Bogart's w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

8/18/2006 TOLEDO, OH @ Headliners w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

8/19/2006 HUNTINGTON, WV @ Huntington Music Hall w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

8/20/2006 BALTIMORE, MD @ Sonar w/ Gwar, Suicide City, 2 Cents

09/15/2006 NEW YORK, NY  Spiegel Tent @ South Street Seaport

That album is the sound of a band at the peak of its powers, dropping bombs for the fuck of it. But Prior to the Fire just sounds like a competent, professional band running through the motions. The album has no grand arc; it's just a collection of pretty okay jams for people who already own everything Pentagram ever recorded. It's fine, but it's nothing more than fine.
