08-25 Ted Leo & the Pharmacists @ South Street Seaport

Fresh from a label switch from Lookout Records to Touch & Go, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists lived up to their longtime rep as one of the best live indie-bands around with an inspired performance that left the packed crowd at South Street Seaport cheering with excitement. I had only seen Ted Leo rip it up solo a couple of times (and both of those shows were pretty impressive) but his full backup band things pushes the passion & intensity to another level. Drummer Chris Wilson (an absolute beast on the skins) & bassist Dave Lerner are the perfect accompaniment for Leo's raging falsetto indie-punk (i-punk?).
If you've never heard the Pharmacists before check out the sampling of MP3s below. They've got a great sound for anyone into, Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello, the Clash or pretty much any kind of music that rocks with heart & soul.
Ted Leo – “Me & Mia”
Ted Leo – “Tell Balgeary, Balgury Is Dead”
Ted Leo – “Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone”
