09-08 Miss Fairchild @ Cake Shop
We arrived at Cake Shop in time to catch openers Miss Fairchild. Although the band name might make you think you’re in for something inspired by Merchant & Ivory movies the band actually blends 70s Shuggie Otis style funk with Hip-Hop. I’m not sure how long the bands been around for but they were definitely entertaining performers. Front man Daddy Wrall even took a couple of Morris Day style mid-song mirror breaks to make sure they were still fly (those hot lights can be murder on a brothers fro baby) and then pounced right back into action. The ladies were loving it. Plus any band that rolls with a DJ that can play the keyboards & the sax (DJ P. Nice) is on to something good. Highly Recommended.
