In order to celebrate the release of it's new iPod competition the Zune, Microsoft threw a series of blowouts across the nation last night featuring some big name bands. In NYC they went really big with Stoner rock gods Queens of the Stone Age. QOTSA (of course) absolutely destroyed, playing a short but devastating set for the packed house mostly focused on newer material. If you've never seen Queens of the Stone Age live... You really need to do something about that.
Interesting side story about this show - while we're all waiting outside the club to get in, an air conditioner came falling down from one of the apartments above and smashed into some guys head. Amazingly, he had a pretty nasty looking gash but seemed otherwise ok. Gotta stay alert in at all times in NYC!
