05.25 Team Robespierre @ Glasslands (photos)

Post a Comment

The main room at Glasslands felt as if someone hit a hidden "Fun" switch from the moment hometown Team Robespierre hit the stage. The sweaty, booze fueled crowd quickly turned into a sea of hands & feet dancing, diving & surfing along with the band through an infectious set of Brooklyn punk that easily lived up to the band's growing buzz.

05.23 Parlor Mob @ the Annex (photos)

Post a Comment

I hadn't heard much about Red Bank NJ's Parlor Mob before but these guys impressed with a seriously hard rockin' set that should appeal to fans of modern hard rock (i.e. Wolfmother, Jet, etc.).

Weds. 05.30: the Photo Atlas Rock Irving Plaza Tonight

Post a Comment

11-04h the Photo Atlas @ PureVolume

Expect a fun scene of moshing, crowd surfing & dancing when Denver's finest the Photo Atlas hit the stage at Irving Plaza in support of the Bravery & Glasgow gloom rockers the Cinematics. Looks like the show's sold out online, but there may still be some tix available at the door.

Check in tomorrow as I will have photos from the action plus an interview with the Photo Atlas.

05.25 the Death Set @ Glasslands (photos)

Post a Comment

Headliners the Death Set survived some serious technical difficulty (note to party goers: pouring beer directly onto a band's equipment while they're performing is a textbook asshole move) to rip through a set of shout along electro-punk delivering an absolutely scorching end to a night of excellent underground music.

05.18 Knife Crazy @ Matchless (photos)

Post a Comment

Another ferocious performance from Buffalo's Knife Crazy, the band's sound defies easy categorization blurring the line between Metal, Prog, Punk, & Psychedelia. If you’re a fan of sonically adventurous hard rock like Comets on fire or Earthless do not miss Knife Crazy when they’re in your area.

05.16 Jaguar Club @ Shindig! (photos)

Post a Comment

One of highlights of the monthly Shindig! indie rock party was Brooklyn's Jaguar Club playing an entertaining set of eighties influenced indie-pop. The band's sound is a bit too restrained at times on their latest EP "Ceci n'est pas le Club de Jaguar" but in the live setting singer William Popadic infuses the songs with an immediacy that drew a enthusiastic response from the partygoers. Jaguar Club's definitely a band with significant potential for fans of brooding, melodic indie.
