The first thing that struck me as I stood next to Buckingham fountain squinting at my festival map for Lollapalooza '07 was that it was sort of like looking at the hood of a Nascar - the "MySpace Stage"?, the "AT&T Oasis"?, the "Citibank Stage"? (because apparently nothing rocks harder than free checking). Now, I'm definitely not against making money for your music but for an alternative music fest the corporate branding seemed a little heavy handed. But if heads wanna rage with the machine that’s their business, I was there for the music and first up on my music schedule was the UK Brit-Pop stars the Fratellis.
I’d first caught the Fratellis playing an acoustic set down in Texas a few months earlier and that was, okay but this set was much better. The songs sounded great plugged in (especially for a morning set) and the guys played with great energy & had excellent chemistry with the crowd.
