I'd been meaning to catch Die! Die! Die! for a while now. I'd first heard their tune "Shyness Will Get You Nowhere" on a compilation of New Zealand bands Vice put together for South by Southwest called "New Zealand Kills Texas" and was impressed with their edgy, rhythmic punk sound.

Turning the main room of the Annex into their playground, the band put on a fun, high energy performance climbing speaker stacks, jumping off monitors, and diving into the crowd for impromptu duets with stunned hipsters & security. The music was hard hitting catchy punk, filled crashing drums, rumbling bass, and the singer’s got a sneering punk voice somewhere in the Johnny Lyndon range. There were lot's of good tunes but "Out of the Blue" stood out with it's it slow build to it's simple catchy chorus "No Regrets, No, No, No, None at All!" and subtle tempo changes.

Die! Die! Die! absolutely killed it and are definitely worth checking out - I've paid three times as much for half the fun. Even better, I checked online and they've got another show coming up as part of their residency at the Annex on an excellent bill packed with explosive bands (details below):

Fantastic photos! Especially love the look of sheer incredulity on Henry's face in that second one. Makes me want to jump the first plane for New York.

No doubt Petra, this show was a party. Hop on a Plane!
