I'd been hearing good buzz about Goes Cube for a while now but this was actually my first show. Looks like I've been missing out because these guys killed. The band’s monster rhythm section creates a propulsive, deeply crunchy sound that mixes elements of early 90’s grunge like Mudhoney with the stoner-rock magic of Queens of the Stone Age. The tempo changes & vocal range within some of the songs were particularly excellent. Singer David O. was the first of the evening to take the fury into the crowd in true punk style - wading into the crowd & swinging his guitar over the bobbing heads. Goes Cube only refers to their songs by numbers but “Goes Cube Song Number 30” in particular is the shit. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this band on much larger stages soon.
